There were reports earlier this week that WWE was planning a “crazy gimmick match” for the Royal Rumble between The Fiend and Randy Orton after Orton actually murdered the Fiend at TLC by setting him on fire. Wrestling.
Given that the Fiend is to be involved, it was safe to assume that the match would be crazy in some way, and it seems we now have a better idea of what the match gimmick will be.
Well, fans of the Firefly Funhouse match between The Fiend and John Cena can now celebrate, because according to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, we’re getting another one.
“Ringside News reported that Fiend vs. Orton will take place on the Rumble show in another gimmick match. We did get confirmed that such a match is now on the schedule, and the tentative idea is to call it a Firefly Fun House match.”
The first Firefly Funhouse match was very divisive, with a large number of people thinking it was a masterpiece, with a similarly large amount of people thinking it was weird and stupid and silly and dumb.
Either way, it should bring some more eyes to the Rumble, which could be the first WWE show with actual fans in attendance since the start of the pandemic if Vince McMahon gets his wish.
