As of right now, it is believed that Rey Mysterio is not under contract with WWE, but that Vince McMahon is still very keen on re-signing the legendary Luchador.
PWInsider Elite has reported that Mysterio met with WWE Officials yesterday (July 21) to discuss terms on a new contract, but it isn’t yet known whether one was signed, or whether Mysterio is still refusing to sign.
He was at this week’s RAW taping following his controversial Eye for and Eye match with Seth Rollins at Extreme Rules, but was not used on screen. As reported yesterday, plans to have Mysterio’s eye pop out during the match with Seth Rollins were scrapped and any sight of a loose eyeball was edited out of the show.
It is currently believed that he will end up staying with WWE, but that the current sticking point is WWE’s unwillingness to offer him a raise. WWE is currently not offering raises due to the pandemic, despite the company recording record profits this year and releasing over 20 stars in April.
If Mysterio does re-sign, you would assume that his son, Dominik, would also be staying with the company, as it looks as though WWE has big plans for him, especially within the ongoing Seth Rollins feud.
