A new report has emerged on Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s potential WWE return at WrestleMania 39 this April.
It was reported in August that the plan was to have The Rock return to the ring to face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39, provided that the Rock’s schedule would allow for the Hollywood star to train for an in-ring return.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter however, Dave Meltzer stated that The Rock had indicated to WWE that he won’t have time to get into the kind of shape he feels he needs to be in to do a main event match with Roman Reigns.
Dave Meltzer has now reported that most are of the opinion that The Rock won’t wrestle at WrestleMania 39, noting on Wrestling Observer Radio, that this has been the belief for months.
Meltzer said:
“Anything is possible, and it’s certainly possible he could be keeping everything a secret from all by one or two people, but the word is that he doesn’t have the time to get in the shape.
“All along, if he has the time to do it, he will do it. Put it this way, most are of the opinion that it’s not happening, and it’s been for months.
“Those on the inside thought the odds were not good based on that thing because (his schedule)….There’s no such thing as 100% because it’s a very secretive business. Within the company, it’s not looking good.”
The Rock recently commented on the potential sale of WWE, which you can read about right here.
