As seems to be a weekly occurrence nowadays, WWE writers and Vince McMahon are reportedly rewriting the script for tonight’s Smackdown Live show.
This is certainly not the first time in the last few months that Smackdown’s entire script has been rewritten mere hours before the show is set to go live.
However, the show is not being rewritten tonight because Vince McMahon was unhappy with the original script, but because Elias has been forced to pull out of the King of the Ring tournament due to injury.
According to reports, the decision to pull the former NXT star from the match was made today, with Dave Meltzer reporting that the script for tonight’s show is now being subsequently rewritten.
Elias is an ankle injury, the show has been rewritten to reflect the change. Not sure how it's being handled but story will reflect reality.

PWInsider is reporting that Chad Gable will still be wrestling a semi-final match in the King of the Ring tournament, meaning WWE should announce a replacement for Elias before the show starts.
