Report: WWE Tears Up Proposed SummerSlam Card

WWE’s SummerSlam pay per view continues to draw nearer. It has been confirmed that the event will air from the WWE Performance Center but now we have some insight into the actual card for the show.

The highly reputable WrestleVotes Twitter account is reporting that WWE has torn up the proposed card for the event. Here is their tweet:

“Was told this weekend the projected SummerSlam card that creative had in place a few months ago has been torn up. Edge’s injury played a big part, as well as the lack of audience – no fans means WWE has little desire to have Lesnar on the PPV. 2 major matches scrapped.”

As they mentioned, Edge’s injured played a role in plans changing. Edge suffered a torn triceps during the taping for his match with Randy Orton at Backlash. There is no word on what the plan for Edge was but needless to say it is not happening now.

The other major tidbit of information is WWE’s lack of interest in bringing in Brock Lesnar. Lesnar has not been seen since losing the WWE Championship to Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania. It makes sense to not want to waste any of Lesnar’s dates on a show with no fans but it means the show will have considerably less star power.
