On this past week’s episode of Raw, we saw the main roster debut of former EVOLVE Champion Austin Theory, who was drafted in to tag with Seth Rollins and Angel Garza after Andrade was injured.
Theory will also be in a match this weekend with Garza, as they attempt to defeat the Street Profits and win the Raw Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania 36.
Given that the show is pre-taped, Theory and Garza may well already be the champions.
Despite his sudden call up, Theory has only had a handful of matches on NXT, and Fightful Select is reporting that no-one is quite sure yet as to whether Theory will stay on the main roster post-WrestleMania, or whether he will simply go back to NXT.
“Austin Theory was received well among the few that were in attendance at the Performance Center we’re told, but a decision hasn’t been made as to whether or not he’ll be on the Raw roster full time. That was the same line of thinking applied to Angel Garza at first.”
Garza appears to have cemented his place on the main roster, but as we saw at the start of last year with Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa, WWE may simply decide to put him back in NXT once creative loses interest.
At just 22-years-old, Theory is one of the youngest main roster stars in recent WWE history, and while he certainly has the potential to be a fantastic wrestler, we’ll have to wait and see what WWE has in store for him.
