A report is now suggesting that WrestleMania 36 could be moved to Madison Square Garden in New York, despite a statement last night claiming the show would be taking place at the Orlando Performance Center.
WWE released a statement last night claiming the show would go ahead as planned on April 5, but that it would be an empty arena show with no fans in attendance.
The general fan reaction to this was very negative, with most saying they’d much prefer a postponement than a ‘Mania with no crowd atmosphere.
This new report comes from @fightoracle on Twitter, an account with an impressive record of reporting backstage news in recent months.
According to the account, the reason WWE announced the Performance Center was that that WWE’s insurance policy says that they have a duty to mitigate damages, and that finding a new venue would satisfy that requirement.
This would appear to line up with Bryan Alvarez’s weekend report, in which he claimed the reason WWE wasn’t cancelling WrestleMania was insurance-related.

>WWE’s insurance policy says they have a duty to mitigate damages (in this case that means finding a new venue)
>WWE announced WrestleMania as the new venue w/intent to satisfy that requirement— Fight Oracle ™ (@fightoracle) March 17, 2020
>the thought is the City of Orlando will shut down the Wrestlemania event from the PC
>at this point, WWE will have shown they tried their best to move the event (mitigate damages) and they’d get paid by their insurer

>Of course everything is fluid. Everything at this point is a rumor until Kennedy McMahon makes the call.
>it just doesn’t make sense to run WM from the PC. Just part of the insurance claim process— Fight Oracle ™ (@fightoracle) March 17, 2020
