A retired wrestling star has revealed that they turned down the opportunity to return to the ring at an event hosted by an AEW name.
Jushin Thunder Liger wrestled his final match at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 14 in 2020, following a celebrated retirement tour.
While many notable names have made in-ring comebacks following public retirements, including the likes of Ric Flair, Shawn Michaels and Bryan Danielson, it has been revealed that Liger recently turned down the chance to lace up his boots once more.
Speaking on the Grue Rume Show, Sonny Onoo noted that Liger was asked to wrestle on the 2025 Chris Jericho Cruise.
Liger noted that he believes he’s too old to step back into the ring:
Onoo: They asked him to have a match. You know that, right? They asked him to have a wrestling match on a cruise.
Liger: I am too old!
Liger’s final match saw him team with Naoki Sano in a losing effort against Hiromu Takahashi & Ryu Lee on the second night of Wrestle Kingdom 14.
Chris Jericho currently holds the ROH World Championship, which he won from Mark Briscoe on the October 23 Dynamite episode.
