Retired WWE Star Return Update

There has been an update on the impending WWE return of a ‘retired’ star following a recent surprise angle.

Ridge Holland recently appeared on WWE NXT television, where he announced that he would be indefinitely stepping away from in-ring competition on the brand.

It was confirmed soon after the show that the segment was a part of a storyline for Holland on NXT, and he wouldn’t actually be retiring.

Holland appeared on the Countdown to Stand and Deliver today, where he discussed the match between Joe Gacy and Shawn Spears.

Before the match however, Holland laid out Joe Gacy with a chair in a surprising angle given his recent ‘retirement’ from the ring.

In an update from Fightful Select (subscription required), the next chapter of the story is set to take place on next week’s NXT show, where Holland will explain his attack on Gacy.

Despite the attack from Holland, Gacy ended up defeating Spears on the Countdown with the Upside Down.

Holland is still in the alumni section of WWE’s website, which he has been since the storyline retirement announcement.
