A major update on Rey Fenix’s WWE contract status following a teaser that aired on last week’s SmackDown show.
Former AEW International Champion Rey Fenix officially left the company earlier this month after previously having injury time added to his contract, which was set to expire last year.
A teaser aired on last week’s episode of SmackDown, which was all but confirmed to be for Fenix, showing a silhouette of him in the ring with orange lighting.
In an update from Fightful Select (Subscription required), Rey Fenix has now officially signed with WWE, as was basically a foregone conclusion following the vignettes on last week’s show.
The plan as of now is indeed to debut him on the SmackDown brand, though Fightful has not been told when exactly he is expected to arrive.
Fenix was getting his medicals done in recent weeks after recently being granted his release from AEW.
Fightful was told that he isn’t expected to speak heavily on his falling out in AEW, just as Penta has not.
A vignette for the WWE arrival of another former WWE star aired on last week’s SmackDown show, which you can see here.
