There could be a mixed tag match on the horizon for Rey Mysterio and an NXT star against Rhea Ripley and Dominik Mysterio.
In tonight’s NXT main event, Dragon Lee challenged NXT North American Champion Dominik Mysterio, with Rey Mysterio in Lee’s corner and Rhea Ripley in Dominik’s.
The finish of the match saw Rhea Ripley slip the North American Championship belt in the ring to Dominik, before both Rey Mysterio and the referee took it away from him.
However, that distraction allowed Ripley to pop up on the other side with her own WWE Women’s World Championship belt, and by the time the ref turned around, Dom flipped Lee into a Michinoku Driver to pick up the win and retain the title.
After the match Rey Mysterio yelled at Dominik in the ring as Rhea stepped between them and started poking at Rey.
Then, from behind, Lyra Valkyria appeared and knocked down Ripley, siding with Rey Mysterio
It’s unconfirmed whether this actually sets up a mixed tag match, or potentially just Ripley vs Valkyria, but we’ll keep you updated if any match gets made for NXT Heatwave in two weeks.
