Rey Mysterio has provided an update on his wrestling future, discussing Dominik Mysterio’s in-ring progress.
Rey and Dominik have teamed with one another since Dominik’s WWE in-ring debut at SummerSlam 2020. In May 2021, The Mysterios became the first father-son duo to win WWE tag team gold, defeating Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship at WWE Backlash.
The Mysterios currently team on Raw, occasionally teasing a tag-team split. Speaking on Rasslin with Brandon F. Walker, Rey noted that he plans to let Dominik continue on his own, as soon as he’s ready.
Preparing to take a step back before the end of 2022, Rey said:
“I think I’ll step back once I feel like my son is ready just to take off on his own. That would be really helpful for him. I’m hoping that it happens within this year. For him to branch out and take care of things on his own. I’ve had the opportunity to be on the same house shows as him, with me wrestling in a completely separate match and him wrestling by himself.
