Rey Mysterio Looking Forward To Demon Finn Balor Vs. Dominik Mysterio At WWE WrestleMania 42, ‘He’s Ready To Whoop Dom’s Butt & Teach Him A Lesson’

He has a match of his own at WWE WrestleMania 42, but Rey Mysterio is looking forward to ‘The Demon’ Finn Balor getting his hands on Dominik Mysterio.

Night 2 of WrestleMania 42 on April 19 will be a busy time for the estranged members of the Mysterio family, with Rey making his in-ring return in a six-man ladder match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship, while Dominik faces ‘The Demon’ Finn Balor.

During a recent appearance on ESPN SportsCenter, Rey Mysterio revealed he was looking forward to seeing Finn Balor in action against the Judgment Day member, saying:

“Oh, I’m looking forward to that match. I warned Finn years ago when he was vibing with my son. I said, ‘You gotta be careful with this kid, man. He doesn’t acknowledge his own father, so you can only imagine what’s going to happen down the road.’ And, sure enough, exactly what I said is happening right now. We are living it.

“I did have a quick talk with Finn, actually, a couple of hours ago. He’s ready. He’s ready to whoop Dom’s butt and, more importantly, to teach him a lesson.”

Rey Mysterio is hoping to become a three-time WWE Intercontinental Champion in the ladder match, with the current title holder, Penta, also facing off against Je’Von Evans, Dragon Lee, JD McDonagh, and Rusev.

Looking towards the match, Mysterio revealed that he has tricks up his sleeve for his first in-ring encounter since his recent return from injury.

Is It Truly Judgment Day For Judgment Day?

Founded in April 2022, Judgment Day was born out of the ashes of WrestleMania 38, with Edge and Damien Priest later recruiting Rhea Ripley to the faction, before bringing Finn Balor into the collective, which would see the WWE Hall of Famer banished.

A “no leaders” policy would become a defining mentality of the group, which would bring in Dominik Mysterio in September 2022, allying him closely with Rhea Ripley and separating him from his legendary father.

While the faction may not have had a leader, Balor’s influence would see JD McDonagh brought into the fold, with Carlito also becoming an official member after SummerSlam in August 2024 saw Priest and Ripley ousted, the latter thanks to Liv Morgan, who would also join Judgment Day, becoming the new interest of Mysterio.

Balor was ejected from the collective in March of this year, with his last big shift seeing him bring in Roxanne Perez last June, an association that has called into question the loyalty of the latter. Perez was absent from WWE television when Balor was removed from Judgment Day, although has remained loyal to the faction.

There are interesting times ahead for Judgment Day at WrestleMania 42, with Night One seeing Liv Morgan challenge Stephanie Vaquer for the WWE Women’s World Champion. Fans have recently seen an unhinged Morgan on WWE Raw, as he was dragged away from her upcoming opponent.

Whether that manic persona will play a part in proceedings on Saturday night remains to be seen, but one imagines we may see more of this if Dominik Mysterio or JD McDonagh are unsuccessful in their respective matches the following night.
