Rey Mysterio Provides WWE Injury Return Update

Rey Mysterio Provides WWE Injury Return Update WWE

WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio has provided an update on the timeline for his return from injury he suffered back in April.

Rey Mysterio was set for a match against El Grande Americano at WrestleMania 41 back in April, but the match had to be changed on the night due to an injury to Rey.

Rey was injured in a six-man tag team match on the SmackDown show prior to WrestleMania, where he, Dragon Lee and Rey Fenix defeated American Made, with Rey suffering a torn groin during the match.

Mysterio was replaced by Rey Fenix in the match at WrestleMania, with Rey still yet to return from his injury.

Speaking on La Platica, Rey explained how the injury occurred while he was doing the ‘simplest sh*t’.

He said:

“So, I was explaining to someone yesterday that I tore my groin. He goes, ‘How did it happen? Was it when they pulled you?’ I said, ‘No…’ The guy that I was wrestling stood in front of me. He bailed out the ring underneath the bottom rope and I went to chase him and when I pushed off with my left leg, I just heard a (*rip noise*). Like, that’s it? I tore my groin like that? And yeah, usually it happens on the simplest sh*t.”

Rey provided an update on his recovery, noting that he is hoping to be ready to return by August.

He added:

“Good. Pretty good (Mysterio said about his recovery from injury). I started my PT. Not to mention, I had a busted eardrum as well so I fixed that during my time off. I’m on the road to recovery. I should be back hopefully by August.”
