A new update has emerged on the injury to Rey Mysterio ahead of tonight’s WWE WrestleMania night one show in Las Vegas, Nevada.
During the Countdown show today, Mysterio announced that he was not cleared to compete in his planned match against El Grande Americano (Chad Gable).
Instead, Americano will now face Rey Fenix instead.
Mysterio’s injury came just last night on SmackDown during a six-man tag match that saw him team with Dragon Lee and Rey Fenix against American Made.
In an update on the injury, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer reports that it’s a torn groin:
From our @davemeltzerWON: The injury to Rey Mysterio Jr. that took him out of #WrestleMania is a torn groin and not an ankle or knee injury.
Both Mysterio and Fenix were present for another announcement on the Countdown show, which was the acquisition of Mexican lucha libre promotion AAA.
