Ric Flair Addresses AEW Speculation

Ric Flair Addresses AEW Speculation

Ric Flair has addressed all the speculation that he could be on his way to AEW after he was released by WWE at the start of this month.

It’s well known that Flair and Tony Khan are good friends, and, with other names like Tully Blanchard, Arn Anderson and Andrade El Idolo all currently with AEW, it was treated as a certainty that Ric Flair was on his way.

However, speaking on Renee Paquette’s Oral Sessions, Flair kept quiet and said he hasn’t even talked with Khan. He said:

“I can also tell you, people who started rumors, no need to get into that. ‘Oh, he’s going to AEW. He and Tony Khan are friends’. Yeah, we are friends, but I haven’t heard a word from Tony. If he asks you, tell him I’m around (laughs).

“Hypothetically, if I wanted to go work at AEW, I would go to (Vince) and say, ‘I want to do this and want to get back in the ring and I know you don’t like that, if I wanted to get knocked down or something’. He would say to me, ‘Ultimately, what’s best for you is best for me’.”

When asked if he does want to get back in the ring, Flair said:

“Get back in the ring and entertain? Absolutely. I would ask (Vince) first because I owe that to him. I got a text from Randy Orton, I can’t read it to you, I don’t have it. Let me tell you something, if you’re at AEW and the Four Horsemen get together, everyone in the world watches. Arn, Tully, Barry (Windham) is sitting about a mile from here, and JJ (Dillon), you fly him in. You do a half-hour interview with (Tony) Schiavone and Jim Ross.”

Since his release, Flair has appeared at AAA TripleMania in Andrade El Idolo’s corner, and at this past weekend’s NWA 73rd anniversary show.

Flair did also say that he’ll be in Chicago during All Out week with Andrade, who faces Pac at the pay-per-view this coming Sunday.

Whether you actually believe what Flair said about not speaking with Khan about joining AEW, knowing that this is wrestling and he’s Ric Flair, is up to you.
