It seems like an AEW star helping Ric Flair to get back into ring shape won’t lead to him being involved in his retirement show.
Ric Flair is preparing for his return to the ring as part of Starrcast V weekend in Nashville on July 31. To get ready, Flair trained with Jay Lethal.
Speaking on his To Be The Man podcast with his son-in-law Conrad Thompson, the 16-time world champion said that Lethal had an attitude.
He said:
“Is he gonna hear this if I say it? I don’t care. He’s got an attitude. He wants to be part of the show. And I said ain’t gonna happen. You know, that happens all of a sudden everybody’s feelings are hurt. You know, this is what we talked about, what we discussed, some people’s feelings are gonna be hurt.”
Thompson responded to Flair saying that he thinks the world of Lethal, but Flair added:
“I do too. I’m not saying anything bad. It’s just, I don’t have the authority or, even though I am the co-owner I guess, co-owner of this venture, I don’t have the authority to put him on the card…So I think he’s upset about that, but he’ll get over it. I don’t, there’s not been a falling out. I just, you know, I just told him like it is. I don’t have the ability. I don’t. I suppose I have the influence to make something happen, but from what I understand he doesn’t fit on the card. I’m sorry. It’s not a falling out on my part, I promise.”
It was recently revealed that Flair’s retirement show will be moved to a bigger venue, which you can read about here.
