Report: More Details On Ric Flair Text To Vince McMahon Before WWE Release

More details have reportedly come to light regarding the text message Ric Flair sent to Vince McMahon prior to his WWE release.

It had previously been reported that Flair was unhappy with certain booking decisions, and Dave Meltzer now reports on Wrestling Observer Radio that it was the booking of Flair’s daughter Charlotte that he took an issue with.

Meltzer also seemed to dispute the reports that Flair requested his release, saying he’d heard it was a Vince McMahon decision, not a Ric Flair decision. He explained:

“He had sent a message, I think it was a text message, but he had sent a message to Vince McMahon, and it was basically complaining about Charlotte’s booking, her situation. And now he’s gone. I’ve seen it said it was his decision to leave, and I just know from people who I know who are closer to this situation than I am that say that it was Vince’s decision.”

It’s still not known if there was anything specific about Charlotte’s booking Flair had an issue with, or if it was just in general, but he’s said publicly in interviews in the past that he didn’t like the Charlotte/Lacey Evans storyline he was involved in pre-WrestleMania, but he went along with it for the sake of being professional.

It is known that Flair and AEW President Tony Khan are very good friends so there’s definitely a pretty good chance he could head over to AEW in some capacity.
