WWE NXT star Ricky Saints has addressed the show currently being in a ‘transitional era’ following recent call ups.
At the beginning of the year, a number of major names from the WWE NXT roster were called up to the main roster, including Trick Williams, Oba Femi and Je’von Evans.
Following the call ups, a number of new faces have debuted on NXT, along with the crowning of Joe Hendry as the new NXT Champion last month.
Speaking to The Sportster, Ricky Saints was asked about the show being in a transitional era, noting that he is ‘sick of hearing about eras’, and disagreeing that the show is in ‘the Joe Hendry Era’.
He said:
“I’m so sick of hearing about these ‘eras’. I don’t know if you are or not, but I hate it. I’m tired of hearing ‘era’. Joe Hendry ‘era’. There’s no ‘era’, there’s only the time that I’m here, that’s what matters. The time that I’m here is the time that counts. The period from this date to this date, whatever it is, that’s what matters.
“I don’t believe (Joe Hendry) is the face of NXT right now, I think, even though this may be a quote unquote ‘transitional era’, it isn’t to me. We are constantly doing work, I am constantly doing the work that needs to be done around here.
“(…) What I’m saying is that there is no era for this guy, Joe Hendry, there’s only me being here, on NXT, doing the work, and making sure that the day that I croak, people look back and think ‘wow, he really did change the landscape’.”
