Ricky Saints’ AEW departure was referenced during a segment on tonight’s episode of WWE NXT ahead of a big title match.
The saga of Ricky Starks and AEW came to an end last month, when it was announced that he had been released from his contract with the company after previously having requested his release.
Just a day after his release, Starks, now known as Ricky Saints, made his WWE debut on NXT, where he announced that the revolution would once again be televised.
Since his arrival, Saints has been butting heads with NXT North American Champion Shawn Spears, another former AEW star, with them seemingly set for a North American Championship match at Stand & Deliver.
On tonight’s show, Vic Joseph sat down for an interview with Saints, which was interrupted by Spears and the Culling, with Spears calling Saints overconfident.
Spears ended the segment by referencing Saints’ depature from AEW, saying:
“In case it doesn’t work out here, you know you could always go back…
“Nevermind, we both know you burnt every bridge, don’t we?”
This. Was. INTENSE. @starkmanjones and @ShawnSpears didn't hold anything back! 🤯#WWENXT pic.twitter.com/NII70fJE9L
