Ricky Starks AEW Update Amid TV Absence

Ricky Starks AEW Update Amid TV Absence AEW

There has been a backstage update on Ricky Starks’ status amid his ongoing AEW TV absence.

Ahead of Full Gear 2024 in Newark, New Jersey last night, absent AEW star ‘Absolute’ Ricky Starks made a surprise appearance at Game Changer Wrestling’s Dream On event in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Delivering a fiery promo, Starks would reference his lengthy absence from TV and in-ring competition, saying he will be “damned if he sits at home and gets frozen out”.

The promo comes amid plenty speculation regarding his long-term future in AEW, having not competed on TV since March.

Despite the uncertainty regarding his status, Fightful Select reported that Starks was in fact present backstage for last night’s Full Gear, with PWInsider noting that Starks was “warmly greeted” behind the scenes.

This was then confirmed by Danny Cage of the Monster Factory, who posted an image of Starks at the Prudential Center to his Instagram (see below).

There was no further information given by Fightful in regards to Starks’ status, so there’s no indication as what AEW’s plans are for Starks or his future in the company beyond what has already been reported prior.

Earlier this month Starks confirmed that he was still under AEW contract via social media, while a report from months prior stated that WWE had “significant interest” in the AEW star should he become available.

We will provide all further updates on Starks’ future as/when they become available.
