Ricky Starks Promises FTR First Shot At AEW Tag Team Titles If He Wins AEW

AEW star Ricky Starks has promised FTR the first shot at the AEW World Tag Team Titles if he wins.

On the July 13 Fyter Fest Night One edition of AEW Dynamite, Ricky Starks will team with Powerhouse Hobbs to face Swerve In Our Glory (Keith Lee & Swerve Strickland) and The Young Bucks in a three-way match for the AEW World Tag Team Championships.

This marks Starks and Hobbs second opportunity at the gold despite FTR’s Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler holding the #1 ranking in the AEW tag team division for months.

Speaking with Nick Hausman of Wrestling Inc., the AEW star discussed the fact that FTR has been skipped over yet again.

He said:

“I love FTR. I think FTR is great, it’s bizarre”

Despite finding it weird that FTR has been denied their shot, Starks also doesn’t feel it’s his job to worry about the duo, saying:

“Who am I to really give up my opportunity? I got it.”

The FTW Champion continued on to talk about Harwood and Wheeler being busy with their schedules as AAA, ROH and IWGP Tag Team Champions, but also saying that he and Powerhouse Hobbs can’t just wait.

He said:

“We can’t just wait. We can’t just not have these contendership matches, because someone is number one contender, but they’re busy with something. We have to move on to the next person.”

Starks confirmed that he promises to give FTR the first crack at the gold if he and Hobbs are victorious on Fyter Fest Night One, saying:

“Once we win the titles tonight. I promise this on my life — they got first shot. I don’t care what anyone else says. I’m giving them the first title shot.”

FTR will defend their ROH World Tag Team Titles against The Briscoes at the Death Before Dishonor event on July 23.
