An update has emerged on a potential name change for new WWE star Ricky Starks, who debuted on tonight’s February 11 NXT.
Starks appeared in the crowd and cut a promo, and while commentary acknowledged him, they didn’t actually say his name.
His name also hasn’t been used by WWE at all on social media or online – just as an example, the YouTube title of his debut is “The NXT debut that shocked the world”, with the description of the video stating: “A new competitor arrives in NXT and promises to turn NXT upside down”.
This has led to some question marks as to why that’s the case, with an obvious possibility being a name change.
According to Fightful Select, the decision to not name Starks across the board “wasn’t an accident”.
However, there also isn’t yet a clear answer as to why that decision was made – just that it’s not a coincidence and is being done on purpose.
So at this point, there are still options on the table that aren’t a name change, but we can rule out the possibility of it just being a coincidence that his name hasn’t been used – it’s a decision made for a specific reason, we just don’t know what the reason is yet.
For whatever it’s worth, Starks has commented on social media following his debut, and as of this writing, his name on there is still Ricky Starks. If that changes, you’ll be able to see it in the post embed below.
We’ll keep you posted with any further updates.
Right time, right guy. https://t.co/Xx05s3sEHU
