Here’s Why Riddick Moss Made WWE Return Before The Draft

More backstage details have emerged on the WWE return of Riddick Moss following the September 24 edition of SmackDown.

On Friday’s show, Moss attacked Kevin Owens during ‘Happy Talk’, aligning himself with Happy Corbin. As per Fightful Select (subscription required), Moss had been assigned to the SmackDown brand last week, by the time he wrestled a dark match with Odyssey Jones.

Before his return, Moss last appeared on WWE TV in September 2020, as part of the Raw roster. Fightful noted that when they asked why Moss was moved to SmackDown a week before the WWE Draft, it was noted that there’s no harm “getting the ball rolling” on Moss and Corbin’s partnership.

Moss’ absence from WWE was due to an ACL injury. The talent reportedly worked injured for quite a while last year, which “shocked and impressed” a WWE official considering the nature of the injury.

The WWE Draft kicks off on the October 1 edition of SmackDown, and will conclude on the October 4 episode of Raw.
