Riley Osborne has responded to claims that he “made it very well known” he didn’t want to be moved to WWE Evolve prior to being released.
Former Chase U member Osborne was among the 17 names let go by WWE this past weekend.
Following his release, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer reported that there were “non-wrestling things” and “certain things that happened” with Osborne that contributed to WWE’s decision to release him.
Bryan Alvarez, also of the Wrestling Observer, then reported that he’d been told by a source or sources that Osborne had apparently made it clear he didn’t want to be moved to the WWE Evolve brand.
Alvarez said:
“One of the big things was, there are people that they want to go and help out Evolve. And I was told he did not want to go to Evolve, and he made it very well known.”
Osborne (Josh Terry) has now responded to this claim in a statement titled “Incorrect” – he wrote:
I worked the first set of Evolve tapings the day after my wife was released. When I was told by head coach on a phone call that night I can have it off tomorrow if I need time with my wife as we had to pull out of the house we were like 2 weeks from closing on, all I had to do was tell him yea I’d like just a day to be with her.
I was the first person in that building the next day and was commended on my professionalism. I will not have my work ethic questioned when I was busting my ass off in rehab to return which I knew the return would have been on Evolve.
Not everything you read online is true.
When Osborne was released, he was still out recovering from an injury and hadn’t been medically cleared after undergoing surgery in March.
There was another claim from WWE sources that some of the NXT talents that were released were perceived as “not working hard in training” or even being “lazy”.
Cora Jade and Gigi Dolin both responded to that – which you can read about at this link.
