Shocking WWE Name Didn’t Know Bray Wyatt Was Returning WWE

The potential return of Bray Wyatt had been on everyone’s lips since, well, his surprising release from WWE in July 2021, but now one shocking WWE backstage name has revealed that he did not know that Wyatt was returning.

After Paul Levesque (Triple H) became Head of Creative/Chief Content Officer for WWE in July 2022, the company has undergone plenty of changes that have so far gone down well with names both in the ring and outside.

Since Levesque took over, plenty of names have made returns including Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, Braun Strowman, Dakota Kai and Johnny Gargano to name a few.

Perhaps the name that generated the biggest buzz was Bray Wyatt, who made his long-anticipated return at WWE Extreme Rules on October 8, 2022.

Surprisingly, Triple H’s close buddy, stablemate and WWE’s Senior Vice President of Live Events, ‘Road Dogg’ Brian James, has revealed that he was in the dark about Wyatt’s return.

Speaking on an episode of his podcast “Oh…You Didn’t Know?”, Road Dogg lived up to his catchphrase and explained that no, he didn’t know.

WWE’s Senior VP of Live Events said:

“It was done so well and it just a visual roller coaster ride. I am not in that, those inner circles anymore that talk about creative, so I honestly did not know he was coming back. I love it. I love not knowing. There is something very liberating about being ignorant…

“Not knowing everything is cool sometimes, because then you get surprised and so, I think that’s the age old argument about spoilers.”

Despite having a major backstage role, it seems that Road Dogg was not privy to the knowledge in order to keep the big comeback under wraps.

WWE conducted a huge campaign teasing the return of Wyatt in the run-up to Extreme Rules, sending fans down a rabbit hole as they followed QR codes to cryptic teases and creepy video clips, with accompanying merch brandishing the mysterious White Rabbit.

The company is reportedly thrilled with the success of the return, with Wyatt’s merchandise currently the best seller.

It was recently reported that they were looking to capitalise on this with more merchandise items, including plushies of the Funhouse characters.

Since his return, Bray Wyatt has been cutting ominous promos on the SmackDown brand.

An update on his internal WWE status was also revealed recently, with PWInsider reporting that Wyatt now features in the top slot as a babyface on the SmackDown brand. Former top SmackDown babyface Drew McIntyre is now in the second slot.
