Road Dogg Responds to Fan Criticism Over Becky Lynch’s Push

Road Dogg is a bit of a conundrum. Brian James was one of greatest tag team champs of all time as part of the New Age Outlaws and currently co-head writer on Smackdown. Though James was beloved in the ring, he’s not been beyond reproach when it comes to the WWE fans and his booking decisions. Nor, is he shy about confronting the criticisms.

While Road Dogg may get more hate than he deserves, it’s easy to understand fan frustration with comments like this:

Regardless of where you stand on Road Dogg, he’s at least he’s listening to the criticism. This time it’s over how the WWE is pushing Becky Lynch. Lynch got this natural push through those supposedly meaningless wins before having her title run handed to a returning Charlotte Flair.

Mind you this made for a great storyline of a friendship turn, but fans wanted to see that with Sasha and Bayley, not here. Here the fans wanted their Steampunk Lass Kicker to stand tall with the title.

Now they have to wait, and even if Becky captures the title, many see her as a heel now. Leaving fans perplexed over why they can’t have nice things. Nakamura, Asuka, Lynch, and Bayley have fallen prey to this pattern of building up someone as destined to be champion only to pull it out from under them at the last moment in favor of the handful of people. In that frustration, one fan spoke out:

And, of course, Road Dogg responded. However, this time the man makes a good point. This may not be how the fans want the push but the push is still there. However, this all comes crashing down if Becky loses the feud and is relegated to losing matches to incoming NXT stars and the redundant 6-Woman tag matches they shove in every week.

What do you think of Becky’s current push? Will she ever regain the Smackdown Women’s championship? Let us know in the comments below, on Twitter or on Discord!
