Road Dogg To Join Triple H On NXT Creative Team?

Earlier this week it was reported that former WWE writer, tag team champion and Hall of Famer Road Dogg (Brian James) has been given a new role in the promotion.

James is working under D-Generation X stablemate Triple H in NXT where he is teaching classes to Performance Center athletes.

Road Dogg noted that he cannot help in the ring but he can help with the “television aspect” of the performers’ developments.

However, according to Dave Meltzer in the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, James’ future may once again lie in the creative department.

Meltzer notes that there has been talk of James becoming a part of the NXT creative team, writing that “many in the company expect that will eventually happen.”

James was previously one of the head writers for SmackDown, where he was known for arguing with fans on Twitter when trying to defend some of WWE’s confusing and often nonsensical booking.

He infamously told a fan during the botched Becky Lynch heel turn that Becky being the underdog who had her hard-earned opportunity stolen from her by Charlotte Flair was “not the story you were told”.

It was.

WWE later realised as much when they admitted defeat, allowed Lynch to be a babyface and Charlotte a heel and pushed Becky to the moon in the main event of WrestleMania.

Road Dogg recently appeared on WWE’s Performance Center Combine show, where he confirmed his current role at the PC.

Unfortunately, he hardly gave NXT fans cause for optimism due to his lack of knowledge about who some of the wrestlers were.

That included asking “Who is this guy?” about Dan Matha, who has been in the WWE system for four years.

Let’s hope he learns quickly if he is going to be one of the leading writers on the show in the near future.
