Road Warrior Animal Passes Away Aged 60

It has been announced by the family of Road Warrior Animal on his official Twitter account that the WWE Hall of Famer has unfortunately passed away at the age of 60. This death came just one day after his wedding anniversary.

Real name Joseph Laurinaitis, Road Warrior Animal first wrestled for WWE between 1990 and 1992. He and his tag team partner Hawk then returned to the company in 1997 after doing some work with WCW.

During his time with both WWF/E, Animal held the Tag Team Championships on three separate occasions, twice with Road Warrior Hawk and once with Heidenreich. He and Hawk were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2011.

Animal’s last professional wrestling match came at the July 17th episode of SmackDown in 2012 when he successfully defeated Heath Slater, who was going through a gimmick of being beaten by WWE legends at the time.

Tweets from some of Animal’s former colleagues have already begun flooding in, with WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan sharing the following tweet about Animal:

At this time, the cause of Animal’s death has not yet been revealed. We will look to update you as more emerges on this situation.
