WWE Hall of Famer Rob Van Dam has recalled his reaction to John Cena’s loss to GUNTHER in his final match at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
For the first time in two decades, John Cena tapped out inside a WWE ring in his final match – a finish that has attracted a multitude of opinions and viewpoints from fans and former wrestlers alike.
Rob Van Dam was among the WWE legends sat in the front row to watch Cena’s in-ring bow, and shared an embrace with the 17-time world champion before the match got underway.
Speaking with TMZ Inside the Ring, RVD recalled his reaction to the moment:
“I expected it I guess. I was just kind of bummed that it was over and so final at that moment. There’s no going back, they rang the bell. That match is over.
“You know it’s coming but it doesn’t make that moment any more enjoyable, so I was disappointed because I would have liked it to go on another 20 minutes, I was having fun.”
