The always reliable WrestleVotes has reported via Twitter that WWE‘s original plans for the 2019 Royal Rumble were for The Rock to return and win the 30-man battle, and go on to face Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 35.
Rumble tidbit: Plan at one point was for The Rock to win the Royal Rumble & face Roman Reigns at Mania. That’s obviously not happening. Can Rock still win it & face Lesnar? I guess. Depends what kind of agreement Rock and WWE have. Once plans changed, Rock may have reconsidered.

However, due to the sad news announced by Roman Reigns in October that he was battling leukemia and had to step away from the ring and relinquish the title, plans of course changed, and the match will now no longer take place.
The tweet notes that a Rock win resulting in him facing Brock Lesnar instead of Reigns for the big red belt on the ‘Grandest Stage of them All’ is indeed still a possibility, but due to Rock’s busy life away from WWE, he may decide against a return if it’s not to face Roman.
A Rock vs. Lesnar bout would also go against Dave Meltzer’s report a couple of weeks ago, stating that Seth Rollins was the one penciled in to face Lesnar at the ‘Show of Shows’.
Who do you think will win the 2019 Royal Rumble if not The Rock? Let us know in the comments, on Twitter, or on Discord.
