ROH Potential Rebrand & Name Change Update

ROH Potential Rebrand & Name Change Update AEW/ROH

Tony Khan has addressed the future development of AEW’s sister brand, Ring of Honor, having bought the company in March 2022.

Previously, Tony Khan had suggested that there would have been more value in ROH had it been branded as “AEW Ring of Honor“.

His comments came when contemplating AEW broadcast partner Warner Bros. Discovery airing ROH.

During a recent interview on WFAA, Khan addressed the opportunity to develop ROH, noting the work he has already done, saying:

“I still think there’s a great chance to develop ROH. We really have done a lot of work to develop ROH. They are unique companies, structurally.

“I think that does make a lot of sense, and I still think there’s merit to that, but there are also a lot of reasons why I’ve positioned (ROH) the way I have.

“Ring of Honor, I still think we have a chance to strike at great opportunities.”

Tony Khan would go on to discuss the media rights deals he has with AEW and their game-changing nature, stating:

“AEW has made huge media rights deals that have changed the landscape for all wrestling companies, including ROH, and any deal we do, it’s got to make really good sense for everyone involved, including us at ROH and also AEW.”

With these benefits in mind, Khan would conclude by highlighting the strengths of ROH’s stars while reflecting on what he wants from potential deals, explaining:

“So, that is something I’ve considered… Right now, I think we’ve done a great job positioning the company as leaders, with leading champions like Athena and Bandido.”

Athena is the current ROH Women’s World Champion and is fast approaching her 1,000 day milestone, while Bandido is the ROH World Champion.
