The main event match for Friday night’s ROH Final Battle show at the Hammerstein Ballroom has been confirmed.
There are set to be two major matches taking place on the show, including Chris Jericho defending the ROH World Championship against Matt Cardona, and Athena defending the ROH Women’s Championship against Billie Starkz.
Tony Khan referred to the two matches as a ‘double main event’ on the recent Final Battle media call, which has led to speculation as to which match will close out the night.
In an update from Fightful Select (subscription required), as of Wednesday, the match between Starkz and Athena was scheduled to close out the show.
On top of Fightful’s report, Athena herself spoke with Denise Salcedo, where she also said that she was of the belief that her and Starkz will be main eventing Final Battle.
She said:
“I think we are going to be, me and minion 4,237 and 3 quarters or whatever she wants to be referred to now, I don’t really care, but we will be the first women to main event in Hammerstein as far as I know, as far as Ring Of Honor goes anyway.
“That could be a really cool moment, another history on the belt there.”
