Last Year’s Event
It was at Best in the World 2017 that Cody claimed the ROH Championship for the first time. He ended the brief reign of Christopher Daniels, who himself was in the midst of his first stint as champion. It was the first major world title Cody won, therefore solidifying him as a top player on the indies.
Elsewhere on that card, Dalton Castle and The Boys captured the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championships. They defeated Bully Ray and The Briscoes but would lose the belts shortly after. This, as well, was Castle’s first championship win in Ring of Honor.
Both men are used to winning gold at Best in the World events, but this year one of them will walk away empty-handed. With All In lurking, and Cody challenging for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship, there’s potential for him to be a double champion. However, he first has to beat Dalton Castle.
Best in the World (2018) takes place on June 29 in Baltimore, MD.
