WWE Undisputed Universal Champion Roman Reigns has admitted that he wasn’t originally a fan of an early Bloodline angle.
After Reigns won the Universal Championship in August 2020, Jey Uso unsuccessfully challenged for Reigns gold, and the title of Tribal Chief, at Clash Of Champions that September.
The following month, Reigns defeated Jey Uso again, this time in an I Quit match, with the stipulation that if Jey quit, he’d have to take orders from Reigns, and acknowledge him as the Tribal Chief.
Over time, Jey Uso warmed to Roman Reigns as the Bloodline faction grew stronger, until recently, with there being more friction over the past few months.
In an interview with APNews, Reigns noted that he was initially against the idea of facing Jey and ‘beating him into The Bloodline.’
Explaining why he eventually changed his mind on the idea, Reigns said:
“When these ideas in real-time started happening, it became a chain reaction, a domino effect.
“It’s been like an onion, peeling open, left and right, these awesome opportunities and different rabbit holes to dive down with these different characters we’ve involved.”
Reigns will defend his WWE Undisputed Universal Championship against Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 39.
