WWE has announced that Edge will challenge Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship at Money in the Bank next month.
This comes after Edge made his return to WWE television on SmackDown, spearing Reigns in the ring, and driving Jimmy Uso through the ringside barricade.
WWE promoted the upcoming Universal Title match on Twitter:

Reigns last defended his gold against Rey Mysterio inside Hell in a Cell last week on SmackDown.
Edge hasn’t wrestled since his WrestleMania three-way match against Reigns and Daniel Bryan. The Tribal Chief pinned the Royal Rumble 2021 winner and the Leader of the Yes Movement simultaneously to close the show.
WWE returns to the road for the July 16 episode of SmackDown, ahead of Money in the Bank on July 18. The annual event will be the first WWE pay-per-view to feature a live crowd since WrestleMania 37 in April.
Kofi Kingston is set to challenge Bobby Lashley for the WWE Championship at next month’s pay-per-view. This comes after Lashley defeated Drew McIntyre at Hell in a Cell, meaning that McIntyre cannot challenge for the WWE Title while Lashley is champion.
