Roman Reigns is a Paul Heyman guy. That’s not a sentence I thought I’d be writing when Roman took the decision to take time away from WWE at the start of 2020.
The two chums have been joined at the hip since Roman returned at SummerSlam, and it seems their partnership has been in the works for a very long time.
Heyman, who for so long had been Brock Lesnar’s advocate, was recently interviewed by Ariel Helwani, and he revealed that he and Reigns have been trying to work together for eight years.
“This has been in the works for eight years. If you think back to how Roman Reigns debuted in WWE, he was part of The Shield and they started as the protectors of CM Punk’s title reign. It was revealed that I was behind The Shield. I’ve been associated with Roman Reigns since his very first day on the main roster. It’s something we have all thought about since the beginning. The time was never right. Once you pull that trigger, it’s like jumping off the cliff. You can’t get back to the top. Once you go there, you have to go there all the way. When Roman wanted to return, he wanted to do something different. Having eight years of a body of work behind him and looking to enter a new part of his career. All the stars were aligned.”
With Reigns now a “Paul Heyman Guy”, many have questioned whether that means Brock Lesnar is done with WWE, or whether this is leading to a storyline where Brock fights Roman over Heyman’s heart.
