Roman Reigns may have bested Riddle to retain his Undisputed WWE Championship on tonight’s SmackDown but a new challenger quickly emerged.
With the shocking return of Brock Lesnar at the close of tonight’s (June 17) edition of SmackDown, WWE has now revealed the major plan for SummerSlam.
WWE announced that SummerSlam will indeed see the re-match of the biggest match in WrestleMania history as Brock Lesnar will challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Championship.
Writing on Twitter:
“JUST ANNOUNCED: @BrockLesnar will challenge @WWERomanReigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title in a Last Man Standing Match at #SummerSlam!”
The original plan for Reigns’ opponent was Randy Orton, but plans had to be changed due to Orton’s ongoing injury issues.
