The expected main event for WWE Crown Jewel on October 21 is Universal Champion Roman Reigns defending his belt against Brock Lesnar.
Fans are split over who they think will come away victorious, but it seems that whatever the result is, the feud is going to continue for quite a long time.
Writing in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer explained the plan is for Lesnar to have multiple matches, and that they will almost certainly be during a long feud with Roman Reigns, culminating at WrestleMania 38 in 2022.
Meltzer wrote:
From what we understand, and what makes sense, is this is not a one-and-done program. For one, unless Dwayne Johnson is wrestling Reigns at next year’s WrestleMania, this would appear to be the biggest possible ‘Mania match. So the idea here is to build to a return, whether that means Lesnar wins to build to a rematch or some disputed decision takes place. There is also Paul Heyman in play as the storyline is written to tease that Heyman is a double agent and you don’t know who he will side with when all the chips are down.
If Brock and Roman do face each other at next year’s WrestleMania as a culmination of this feud, it will be the third time in the past seven years.
