It appears WWE is starting to allow teasers for the heavily rumoured match between Roman Reigns and The Rock at WrestleMania 39 in 2023.
The latest of these teasers came during last night’s (April 12) episode of Young Rock on NBC, with a young Roman Reigns making a cameo appearance.
During the episode, which was set in 1996, a young child jumps onto the laps of Afa and Sika Anoa’i, attempting to get someone to hit him with a Samoan Drop.
Unfortunately no-one agrees to beat up their child relative, at which point the small child looks at the camera and shouts “acknowledge me!”
If that wasn’t enough of a hint, The Rock, who narrates the show, points out this child’s name is Joe Anoa’i, and an infographic pops up on screen to show all of Joe’s accomplishments in WWE. Oh yeah, Joe Anoa’i is Roman Reigns.
Young Roman then puts The Rock in a headlock, but Johnson responds by saying:
“No, the world is not ready! A match that big can happen only at WrestleMania.”
Ok we get it, the sentence was cut short and he was going to say “WrestleMania Backlash”.
Here is the clip from the show.

Roman Reigns vs. The Rock was also teased on WWE Evil this past week, so it really does look like that is the current plan for WrestleMania 39 next year.
