Roman Reigns WWE Injury Update

Roman Reigns WWE Injury Update WWE

An update has emerged on the real reason for Roman Reigns’ recent WWE injury announcement.

It’s fair to say that the Royal Rumble didn’t go in Roman Reigns’ favor, with CM Punk eliminating both Reigns and Seth Rollins, before Rollins delivered a brutal stop to Reigns outside the ring and on the steel steps.

With Michael Cole announcing that the Tribal Chief will be out of action for the ‘foreseeable future’ on the February 3 Raw episode, an initial report noted that this announcement was made to explain Reigns’ short-term absence.

Dave Meltzer has provided an update in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, noting that the injury announcement was made because Reigns will not be at Elimination Chamber 2025.

Meltzer reported:

“They did a storyline injury angle with Rollins curb stomping Reigns on the steps and they announced Reigns would be out of action indefinitely.

“This was to keep Reigns out of the Chamber since he wasn’t winning it anyway and thus would have to be pinned, and WWE never has its top faces (Rhodes or Reigns) lose via pin unless there is a major storyline reason directly stemming from the pin to do so.”

Reigns’ absence from Elimination Chamber would mean that he will not be in a headline championship match at WrestleMania 41, with the winner of the Elimination Chamber match set to challenge whichever world champion Royal Rumble winner Jey Uso doesn’t choose to challenge.

While Paul Heyman recently stated that Reigns is looking to regain the WWE Championship, the OTC has teased challenging for a different title, click here to read more.
