Roman Reigns Comments After WWE Raw Goes Off The Air With Him Being Laid Out By Jacob Fatu, ‘Saturday At Backlash Will Not Look Like This, I Promise You’

Roman Reigns has commented after tonight’s WWE Raw in Ohama went off the air with him being laid out by Jacob Fatu.

This coming Saturday, Reigns will defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Fatu at WWE Backlash in Tampa, Florida.

Tonight’s Raw played host to a contract signing segment to make the match official, which ended with Fatu once again ambushing Reigns with the Tongan Death Grip and smashing him onto a table.

After the broadcast blacked out with Fatu standing tall, Reigns got back up to address the live crowd afterwards.

In his comments, he said:

“Saturday at Backlash will not look like this, I promise you.

“I’ve busted my ass for too long, I’ve held my ground in this company for too long, and I ain’t letting it go just yet.

“In Tampa, that’s where we have to hold it down. But here in Omaha, this is where we realize what has to happen.

“At Backlash, I’m whooping Jacob’s ass. At Backlash, it’s ‘and still.’

“At Backlash, you’re looking at the ‘Head of the Table’ and the ‘Tribal Chief’ above all.”

WWE Backlash 2026 Card Thoughts

The card for WWE Backlash 2026 seems to be complete with five matches and the John Cena appearance, in line with WWE’s general premium live event lineups over the past couple of years.

Roman Reigns vs Jacob Fatu is the nailed on main event and is the biggest spot for Fatu since his WWE arrival in 2024 – the question is how will WWE keep him strong in defeat, assuming Reigns is retaining.

Elsewhere on the card are two matches that were supposed to take place at WrestleMania – Seth Rollins vs Bron Breakker, and IYO SKY vs Asuka.

It’s a bit surprising that Rollins vs Breakker isn’t being postponed until a bigger event like SummerSlam, but that perhaps indicates that there are already some big plans in place for one or both of them at that event already.

Meanwhile, SKY vs Asuka will be a standout in-ring affair, but the absence of Kairi Sane is a glaring issue as that’s really what the whole feud was built around until she was released just over a week ago.

Trick Williams vs Sami Zayn should be a perfectly fine match and may hammer home the double turn of babyface Williams and heel Zayn, while the tag match with The Miz & Kit Wilson facing Danhausen & a mystery partner will likely be fun, although there’s an argument that WWE needs to make sure not to overdo Danhausen’s antics, which has been a slight concern lately.
