Ronda Rousey made her ROH debut in a tag match with Marina Shafir that was taped on November 17, 2023 at AEW Rampage and Collision.
The match saw the pair team against Billie Starkz and ROH Women’s Champion Athena and featured new entrance music for Rousey.
Tony Khan would later confirm that Rousey is not currently signed to an AEW or ROH contract.
In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer explained the reason for Rousey’s ROH involvement, writing:
Ronda Rousey appeared on the AEW show in Los Angeles, but I wouldn’t consider her a live free agent since she is not looking at wrestling regularly right now and her doing the ROH show was only basically a favor to alleviate a complex political issue and help her friend Marina Shafir.
It had nothing to do with any current interest in signing a pro wrestling deal and from those very close to the situation, in no way made it more likely at all that if she did want to come back in a couple of years, that AEW would be her choice.
Rousey left WWE after her SummerSlam match against Shayna Baszler in August 2023, with it being reported that she had a “hard out” in her contract.
ROH recently shared a clip of Rousey and Shafir backstage in a ‘candid’ conversation.
