Ronda Rousey Likely To Appear On Upcoming WWE Smackdown Show

On Smackdown Live’s debut on FOX on October 2nd, WWE will be holding a 20th Anniversary special. The show is set to feature many of the best legends from Smackdown’s past.

WWE has already revealed that Hall of Famers Kurt Angle, Lita, Mick Foley, Booker T, Hulk Hogan, Trish Stratus, Goldberg, Jerry “The King” Lawler, Mark Henry, Ric Flair and Sting are set to appear on the show.

Earlier on this week, it was revealed that Ronda Rousey had landed a role on FOX’s “9-1-1” drama.

Dave Meltzer notes on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio that this could lead to Rousey appearing on Smackdown’s debut show on the sports network.

“There’s always cross-promotion, sure. I think it heightens the chance she’s on that 20th [Anniversary] show, you know that first show. I would have thought that Fox would have done everything under the sun — out of all the names when they were making the deal the big poster was Ronda Rousey when they made it. You know I’m sure they really want her on that first show even if her name’s not announced.”

It is not known whether WWE will want Rousey back as just a cameo on what would be her Smackdown debut, or if they will want her to start a new storyline, building to an eventual in-ring return.
