An ex-WWE name has explained why he thinks Ronda Rousey’s title defence against Shotzi at Survivor Series ‘didn’t click.’
Former WWE official, Jimmy Korderas, has shared his thoughts on the Ronda Rousey vs Shotzi match that took place on Saturday, November 29.
There was a lot of disappointment after Shotzi lost to Ronda Rousey.
In the days after the match, the hashtag #FireRondaRousey was trending thanks to fan backlash.
Jimmy Korderas has now explained why the match that missed the mark for him.
In an interview with Nick Hausman of Wrestling Inc Korderas said:
“I don’t know, something just didn’t click. It didn’t feel like these women connected very well together.
“We talked about this on the post-show, with Justin LaBar and Jack Farmer, on Saturday night, Ronda just doesn’t seem comfortable in her heel role, or heel persona. It doesn’t feel genuine.
“Austin Theory, or somebody like that, you feel like it’s genuine. You feel like that’s the guy. With Ronda, it feels like she’s playing heel wrestling. It just doesn’t feel authentic.
“Obviously, I don’t like matches that look overly choreographed. At the same time, there weren’t botches, but things were not smooth.“
The match was produced by Jason Jordan and Brian Kendrick.
As previously reported, Kendrick was bought in to produce the match at Rousey’s request.
While she has no trouble winning titles, it seems Ronda Rousey is having a hard time winning over critics and fans. In her previous run, Rousey faced criticism for her role as a baby face.
