Ronda Rousey Discusses WWE WrestleMania 35 Botched Finish WWE

Ronda Rousey has commented on the now infamous pin botch during her WrestleMania 35 main event title bout.

At the 2019 event, Raw Women’s Champion Rousey, SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair and Royal Rumble winner Becky Lynch faced off in the first women’s match to headline a WrestleMania.

In the closing moments of the bout, Lynch reversed Rousey’s Piper’s Pit into a Crucifix pin to walk out at Raw & SmackDown Women’s Champion.

The finish was criticised by fans who pointed out that Rousey’s shoulders weren’t actually on the mat for the entire three-count.

Speaking on the Kurt Angle Show, Rousey acknowledged that the pin was botched, noting:

“I didn’t think my shoulder was down. I was trying to flatten out to put my shoulder more down. So like that’s what was happening. I thought it was just the very top of my shoulder. So I was trying to shimmy down. So the actual backs of my shoulders were down and I didn’t know that he had already started counting.

“So or that my shoulder came up during the shimmy. So I was trying to help, but it ended up being awesome because now I have a gripe to revisit.”

Rousey also reflected on her UFC career, naming the one star that she’d return to MMA to fight.
