Last year, Ronda Rousey walked into the main event of WrestleMania as the Raw Women’s Champion where she faced Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair in a three-way.
That was Rousey’s last televised WWE appearance as the former UFC star took some time away from the ring to start a family with husband Travis Browne.
Many fans were unhappy that Charlotte Flair was added to the aforementioned WrestleMania 35 main event, so they have fantasy booked a scenario where Ronda Rousey returns and takes on Becky Lynch in a straight singles match that we have still yet to see.
However, it has been reported that Becky Lynch will actually go one-on-one with Shayna Baszler at this year’s WrestleMania, leaving Rousey without anything to do on the grandest stage of them all if she does decide to return.
Well, Dave Meltzer is reporting on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio that Rousey will not be at this year’s WrestleMania:
“Basically no, nothing [there’s no update about Rousey]. She’s not going to be at WrestleMania. So that’s the deal. She’s not in so it looks like Charlotte Flair’s Royal Rumble win was to set her up for Rhea Ripley which I guess this means that Charlotte Flair is supposed to be the person who helps make the difference on Wednesdays with that match so we’ll see. Rousey is not going to be at WrestleMania. I don’t know the reasoning behind it, but I was told that today.”
Despite Rousey not being set for an appearance or match at the show, WWE has three huge women’s matches reportedly ‘on the books’ for the pay-per-view.
At the show, Becky Lynch and Bayley are set to defend their women’s titles against Shayna Baszler and Sasha Banks respectively while Charlotte Flair should return to NXT after winning the Royal Rumble to challenge Rhea Ripley.
