A rumor killer has emerged on the closing segment of WWE Clash At The Castle, featuring Drew McIntyre and heavyweight boxing star Tyson Fury.
In the main event of the September 3 premium live event, Roman Reigns defeated Drew McIntyre to retain his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. After showing Roman Reigns respect, Fury invited McIntyre to sing ‘American Pie’ with him to send the crowd home happy.
A previous report indicated that this segment was meant to take place after the show went off the air, and WWE just didn’t cut away in time.
Per Fightful Select (subscription required), this wasn’t the case. Sources close to production confirmed to Fightful that this segment was always planned for the end of the show.
During the press conference that aired after the event, Tyson Fury revealed that he’s open to working with WWE in the future, but is currently focusing on boxing.
WWE is reportedly dealing with a ‘complex’ situation regarding Roman Reigns’ booking ahead of WrestleMania 39, and a potential match against The Rock.
