There is now a rumor killer on the idea that Kenny Omega could be appearing at NJPW Resurgence.
Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that he was told adamantly that Omega would not be on the show. He was also told that Omega knows nothing about the matter either.
The rumor started when Don Callis cut a promo at the most recent set of IMPACT tapings. Some fans heard that Omega wanted to wrestle at Resurgence, while others believe they misheard and Callis was talking about IMPACT’s Emergence show.
Kenny Omega has not competed for New Japan Pro Wrestling since Wrestle Kingdom 13. At the event, he lost the IWGP Heavyweight Championship to Hiroshi Tanahashi in the main event.
It appears that the parties involved are trending towards Omega wrestling with New Japan stars in the near future. AEW and New Japan have had a working relationship since January and New Japan star Jay White confronted Omega at IMPACT Slammiversary this past weekend.
We will provide more details about Omega and New Japan as soon as more information becomes available.
NJPW Resurgence takes place in Los Angeles, California, on August 14.
