There is a new rumor killer on Warner Bros. Discovery telling AEW to “tone the language down.”
As previously mentioned, a recent report indicated that WBD had told All Elite Wrestling they’d like the language toned down.
Fightful Select (subscription required) provided an update on the matter, noting that AEW told them that they believe this was a quote taken out of context from the all talent meeting on Wednesday regarding promos and talent going into business for themselves.
The point of the quote was to stress that they could get network heat if they “fly too close to the sun”, but Fightful was told this was not an edict from the network.
There was also further updates regarding other changes that have been discussed by fans online.
Regarding some of the social media rumors about Dynamite being cut to an hour, Warner Bros. Discovery was completely unaware of the rumors while All Elite Wrestling officials knew of their circulation, but both assured Fightful that they are false.
It was also stressed that the notion of the two sides having an adversarial relationship at all is not accurate, as the two sides meet frequently to discuss AEW programming.
As previously mentioned, the current nature of the AEW-WBD relationship has been revealed in the same report, which you can read about here.
